Perranuthnoe Christmas Tree 2014

Our Christmas tree will once again be in the village for all to see and will be lit on Friday 12th December.

The approximate schedule of events is: -

7.00 pm. The tree will be blessed and illuminated and the carols begin. We hope that everyone will join in the carol singing (bring a torch to light up your hymn sheet).

7.15 pm. Father Christmas will arrive with a gift for all village children (under the age of twelve).

Hot sausage rolls and mince pies will be handed around during the carols followed by punch, made to a secret recipe especially for the occasion at the Victoria Inn (courtesy of Stewart & Anna).

Could we please ask for donations of a dozen sausage rolls and/or mince pies, which will be handed round at the above event.

If you are able to contribute please fill in the slip at the bottom of this page and return it to Andrea at The Old Post Office by 1st December.

Place your contribution in the box located in the garden of An Gwythow (Diane Hutchinson) on Friday 12th December.

Info and slip. Click to download and print.

Question About BT Infinity

Hello from a new arrival in Perranuthnoe! Sally and I (plus Rosie our English setter cross) moved into St Pirans Way last week... quick question - our broadband was switched on today but it's only 1.8Mb. Has anybody tried BT Infinity? They predicted 2-4Mb so not sure it's worth the upgrade.
If you see us about say hello!

WW1 Vigil

LIGHT A CANDLE IN PERRANUTHNOE

AUGUST 4TH, 2014

Westminster Abbey will be holding a vigil on the night of August the 4th, 2014.
Drawing upon Sir Edward Grey's famous remark that "the lights are going out all over Europe", Westminster Abbey will mark the centenary by moving from light into darkness, until one candle remains at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, which will be extinguished at 11.00pm to mark the moment of the declaration of war. The Vigil will include music, scriptural readings, psalmody, poetry, and contemporary reflection (such as diary entries and letters) from 1914.

Update: Holiday Home Availability Maybe?

If, by any chance, your holiday home is available anytime after 6 September 2014 then please do contact us and hopefully we could find a mutual agreement to rent your holiday home.  This would be a great help for us whilst we are looking for a long term rental property.

We are an honest, trustworthy couple who would take good care of your property as if it were our own home.  We can provide local references.

Please see below for our original request.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Mark & Diane

UPDATE: Parking In Perran

Jim Scobie (parish councillor) has suggested that we all report any "silly parking" to the police as it will be the only way we will be able to get any yellow lines. He says that if the police get enough reports they will then get the council to do something about it.

It is a serious problem as we all know. If there is an accident in the village during the silly season then the emergency services will not be able to get through, especially anything as large as a fire engine! So please follow his advice and report silly parking, whether its outside your own property or anywhere else in the village.

The number to call is the non-emergency number which is 101

Accommodation For August Wanted

I was wondering if anyone knew of any cottages in Perranuthnoe that sleep 5 that are available 2nd Aug 2014 for 2 weeks. Thank you

Any Camping Close To Perranuthnoe?

Our family has a home in the village. However a number of the family would also like to camp as close to Perranuthnoe as possible @ the Easter weekend 2014. This also includes us in our VW camper.

I am assuming that the local pubs welcome well behaved dogs?

We would appreciate any contact details for camping.

Thank you Ian.
