Pink Granite Cider Trough

Hello everyone, as most of you know by now we are moving to Exmoor. We are taking the cows with us - they are currently on an extended holiday at Pendeen. The family that are moving in are French with two little girls. Their English is excellent. For the first couple of years the cottage will be a holiday home whilst M. Chevalier finishes his training as a Chiropractor, (he was an air line pilot).  Once qualified they will live here permanently. At least that's the plan at the moment.

Meanwhile we are busy packing up. The Chevaliers don't want our granite cider trough so its up for sale. Its 38 inches in diameter- we have used it as a big bird bath (placed with a slight slope backwards to hold water) or trigged up on some rings of wood to make a coffee table. Or start your own cider production!

Anyway, its currently on a pallet ready for moving. If it is bought within the village we will make a donation to the church room funds. Looking for about £450 but quite happy to haggle. That's what was paid at Lodge and Thomas many years ago - so it will go back there if not sold.

Phone Nick or Karen on 711875 if interested. Thanks

Do You Love Our Village Christmas Tree Evening?

Do you wonder how it miraculously gets done each year?

Do you think it could be done differently?

Would you like to be involved and give something back!!!!!

The evening has traditionally been organised by residents of the village. Those who have made the evening possible have done so for many years and they need help. From time to time there needs to be a change with fresh volunteers and new input. This helps with keeping this traditional, heart warming event going. We all know the children love it and it's part of what makes Christmas special!

Please come to a meeting on wednesday 14th September at 7.30 pm in the Church Room to offer your assistance in deciding the way forward. It would only consist of probably 2 meetings a year but you would be expected to undertake a job or two.

Unattended Tent

Can anybody help with information?

There is an unattended tent erected just off of the footpath in our newly seeded front field - they have already damaged the grass with a fire. Has anybody seen the occupants. Does anybody know the phone number for the community police officer?

Thanks Christine

MISSING: Can you help?

Two kayak wheel trolleys have gone missing from Perranuthnoe beach yesterday. They were on the top of the rocks on the right hand side as you come down the slip. They were there from about 10am on Saturday 11 June but were gone when the owners returned around 5.30 - 6pm

It is understood from people on the beach that some children were playing with them.

If anyone has any information at all please could you leave a comment or contact us through Facebook, Twitter, Perranuthnoe Website or telephone 01736 710565.

Alternatively, if someone has taken them they can be easily returned and left outside The Old Chapel, Perranuthnoe anonymously.

Please share this so that we can try and recover these two trolleys to their owner.

Thoughts On The Roads In Perranuthnoe‏

Dear all,

Your Parish Council is still trying to get something done about problem parking in our village.

Some years ago, a scheme requiring double yellow lines throughout the village and along the access road was proposed, but it met with opposition from some businesses and some residents. Because there was no consensus, the scheme could not go forward.

The option of having double yellow lines still divides opinion, so we are trying to find some possible alternatives.

As an alternative start point for a scheme, how about at least designating some "no parking allowed" passing places on the village access road and some no parking areas at key "pinch points" in the village?

Or, does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Could residents please email me at theresagourlay@hotmail.com with ideas. I'd appreciate inputs by June 15th, so that I can collate everything and communicate back to you on options.

In particular, if we go ahead with the suggested alternative, please help identify where passing places should be and where the key "pinch points" are within our village.

Your inputs will help me to go back to the PC with a concrete proposal as an alternative to blanket yellow lines.

If residents wish to form a committee on this topic, then I can facilitate this as well.

Thanks for your time,
Theresa Strawson

Street Party To Celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday

The Queen will be celebrating her 90th birthday this year and street parties will be held across the nation on June 12th.  It would be lovely for Perranuthnoe to join in with the celebrations and host our own street party.

Now would be the ideal time to start planning so if we would like to host our own event, we would need a team of volunteers to come forward and someone to ‘spear head’ the plans.  If enough people are interested we could perhaps organise a get together to discuss further.

If you are interested, or know of others who would be interested, please leave a comment below or on our Facebook page or drop me an email, perranjubilee@hotmail.co.uk

Thank you

Andrea

Parish Council Open Day

The Parish Council has arranged an open day on Thursday 18th February between 3pm and 7pm at St Piran’s Hall for residents to drop in meet their local Parish and Cornwall Councillors, learn more about the potential benefits of a Neighbourhood Plan for our area and express your views on priorities.

We have distributed posters in Goldsithney, Perranuthnoe and Rosudgeon and are keen to get as many residents along as possible.

As you will have read in my previous email Perranuthnoe Parish Council has been working with Cornwall Council on this issue and following the general support of residents in a community survey we are now proposing to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for the Parish which includes Goldsithney, Perran Downs, Perranuthnoe and (most of) Rosudgeon.

The advantage of an agreed Neighbourhood Plan is that it can potentially give the community more influence over the size and type of any development proposed within the Parish whether it is housing or commercial as well as an opportunity to prioritise and protect local amenities and open space.

Please spare some time to drop into St Piran's Hall on Thursday 18th February between 3pm and 7pm to learn about the plan and express your views.

We look forward to seeing you.

Update On Trenow Quarry Footpath

Hello Perranuthnoe,

Some of you may remember filling in footpath forms a few years back, to get the footpath reopened up through the quarry gate at Trenow. I thought it about time you had an update.

It is still lodged with the County Council and has now moved up to 21 out of 151 applications. They did say it would take a while but it looks like we may get to the top of the list in the next 18 months or so. You needed 20 applications spanning the 20 years prior to the gate being locked. In the end I had 38 applications spanning 96 years, so we will get there.

Some of you may have heard rumours that I am moving. I am selling the smaller meadows to buy bigger fields to put the cows in. I will certainly be seeing the application through to its conclusion.

Happy new year to you all Karen
